Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Kostenx (the “Service”), provided by Kostenx GmbH. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. The service

Kostenx is a personal-finance web application that lets you record expenses and income, set budgets, and track bank account balances. Features may evolve over time.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (18 in some jurisdictions) to use Kostenx. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Your account

  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
  • You must provide accurate registration information.
  • You may not share your account or use it for any other person's finances without that person's consent.
  • You may delete your account at any time from the dashboard. Deletion is permanent.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to access the source code other than as permitted by law
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service
  • Use automated means to access the Service in ways that exceed reasonable use
  • Upload data that infringes third-party rights or violates law
  • Use the Service to launder money, evade taxes, or for any unlawful purpose

5. Subscriptions and payments

Free accounts are available indefinitely. Paid plans (Pro) are billed monthly via Stripe. You may cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled per our refund policy (typically: pro-rata refunds for documented service failures, no refunds for unused subscription time after voluntary cancellation).

6. Price changes

We may change prices for paid plans with at least 30 days' notice by email. Continued use of a paid plan after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.

7. Intellectual property

Kostenx, the Kostenx name, logo, and all related visual identity are the intellectual property of Kostenx GmbH. You retain ownership of the data you enter (expenses, budgets, etc.). You grant us a limited license to host, store, and display that data solely so we can provide the Service to you.

8. Disclaimers

Kostenx is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the data you store will never be lost. Kostenx is not a financial advisor. Information shown in the dashboard is for personal recordkeeping and is not professional financial advice.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kostenx GmbH's total liability arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or EUR 50, whichever is greater.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, with reasonable notice where practicable. You may terminate at any time by deleting your account.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction to be confirmed], without regard to conflict of laws principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in [Jurisdiction to be confirmed], unless mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email at least 30 days before they take effect.
